Looking to expand your horticultural skills? 

Our City Parks team is working collaboratively with Plumpton College, a specialist horticulture training provider, to offer a 5-day long intensive horticulture training programme.

What is the course about? 

The course will give learners the opportunity to develop their horticultural skills and gain a City & Guilds Level 1 Award in Practical Horticulture.   

There are a few spaces available on the course, running from 14 to 18 March 2022.   

Once completed, all participants will have the chance to attend an interview for a 6-month, full-time Assistant Seasonal Gardner position.  
 
There are 10 roles available, working within the friendly City Parks team on national living wage. 

Course details 

The course will be delivered in central Brighton with a mixture of theory and practical subject learning including:

  • Preparing ground for sowing and planting 
  • Preparing soil and applying mulch 
  • Caring for a planted area 
  • Introduction to health and safety 
  • Insight into Horticulture industry 
  • Job seeking and interview techniques 
  • Council application process and interview support 

Interested in applying?

To qualify you must be 19 or over, have a right to work in the UK, with a good standard of English literacy skills and in receipt of Universal Credit.   

The course is running from 14 to 19 March and you must be able to commit to attending the full 5 days of the programme.
