Councillor Steph Powell, co-chair of the Tourism, Equalities, Communities & Culture committee said: “Thanks very much to the BME Workers Forum for all their hard work in organising the Multicultural Festival.
“This will be one of the first opportunities for the city to celebrate our diverse communities in person since the Black Lives Matter protests in 2020.
“These celebrations are vital because we still live in an unequal world where someone's skin colour still determines their health and income.
“We’ve pledged to become an anti-racist council and are committed to using our resources and changing what we do to actively challenge racial inequality.
“It’s shaping up to be a fantastic event celebrating our talented and diverse city. We’ve very proud to support MCFES.
“The weather’s looking great so we hope to see you there!”
