Brighton & Hove City Council’s Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme is now taking bookings for the Christmas holidays.
The programme provides free activities for children and young people from reception to year 11 who receive benefits-related free school meals. Children and young people also receive a free balanced meal as part of their day.
The activities include everything from sports, arts and music to personal development and more.
The programme runs from Monday 19 to Friday 23 December, and then from Wednesday 28 to Friday 30 December.

Please book directly with your chosen activity provider, using the information provided on the calendar listing.
Councillor Hannah Allbrooke, chair of the council’s Children, Young People and Skills committee, said: “We know the cost of living crisis is hitting a lot of families really hard – and that childcare is a difficult expense on top of everything else during school holidays.
“Our holiday activities and food programme is part of our commitment for a fairer Brighton & Hove.
“It’s a great way for children and young people to have a healthy meal and a lot of fun for free, supporting parents and carers to have a well-deserved break or support them with childcare during working hours.”
You will need a unique booking code to secure your place. Parents whose children took part in HAF activities in the summer 2022 should use the same unique HAF booking code.
If you no longer have the code you can ask for this to be resent by emailing HAF@brighton-hove.gov.uk with the full name and date of birth of the child.
If you are new to HAF you must apply for a unique HAF booking code before booking. A form must be completed for each child, and we aim to email the codes out within two working days.
- The council’s HAF team would also love to hear from activity and food providers in the city who would like to work with them during 2023. Please email HAF@brighton-hove.gov.uk
