Council services on the day of the Queen’s funeral

The day of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s State Funeral, Monday 19 September, is a national bank holiday.

Brighton Town Hall and Hove Town Hall will remain open from 9am to 5pm for people to sign the books of condolence, as they have throughout the National Period of Mourning.

Our Cityclean staff will be collecting the scheduled recycling and refuse rounds on Monday, with a pause on collections between 11am and 12 noon.

Weddings and funerals booked on the day of The Queen's funeral can still take place, but we will be observing the national 2-minute silence at 11.55am.

We’ve been offering to reschedule weddings booked for on the day of The Queen's funeral. If you‘d like to discuss your plans, call 01273 292 016 and press option 2 or email ceremonies@brighton-hove.gov.uk.

All other council buildings, including our libraries, will be closed on Monday 19 September.

Schools will also be closed for the bank holiday.
