We’re pleased to announce this marvellous opportunity for community groups with an interest in planting schemes.
£15,000 worth of funding has been set aside for groups and organisations so they can take part in planting schemes to provide an attractive haven to encourage birds, bees and wildlife, maximising biodiversity within the city,
Working in partnership with Plumpton College, and in celebration of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, we’re looking to pretty up the city, and will be giving £200 worth of plants to each community group, that would love to join us in planting wildlife-friendly schemes of their own ready for this memorious occasion.
Calling all community groups
Are you a green-fingered community group? Do you love to take part in creating colourful displays for everyone to enjoy? Would you like to receive a £200 voucher for plants? If so, here’s what you need to do. It really is as simple as 1,2, 3:
- Get in touch with your ward councillor for a nomination.
- Receive your email notification confirmation and voucher.
- Ask your nominated person to present your voucher and collect your plants from One Garden, Brighton.
Flower Power - Let’s get planting
Once you’ve collected your £200 worth of plants, the rest is up to you and your group.
Whatever your design, whether it’s in flower beds, brightening up pots, tubs and hanging baskets, or creating a display, it all counts towards ensuring the city is bright and beautiful ready to mark the action- packed weekend of the Queens Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
You’ll need to get in touch with your local councillor, as they are the people who can nominate your group or organisation for this budding opportunity.
Please make sure you do this sooner rather than later*, so your group doesn’t miss out! Once a nomination has been received for your group, and the chosen person has received the voucher you’ll be able to go and collect your £200 worth of bedding plants.
Floral displays in the city
We will be busy leading up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, ensuring the flower-beds within the city are bright and blossoming ready in celebration of this exciting and historic event.
Schemes like the Brighton & Hove Jubilee Planting Scheme don’t come along very often.
It’s fantastic to see that so many groups and organisations can take part, so do make sure to contact your local councillor to make sure your community group is nominated and your voucher is received in time.
These additional plants will beautifully complement the existing flower-beds set to be planted in bright and beautiful flowers leading up to the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Weekend.
As they bloom they will create beautiful havens for wildlife, birds and bees, offering green pathways that will link them up to other attractive areas – helping us to positively impact biodiversity within the city and establishing it for years to come.
It’s a fantastic scheme and one that we’re really looking forward to seeing the creations from groups and organisations around the city. So do share your images with us on social media.
If you’re unsure who your local councillor is, you can find out here.
*Depending on the popularity of the scheme it may be necessary for plants to be given on a first come first served basis.
