Unfortunately, due to extensive flooding at Prince Regent Swimming Complex, Freedom Leisure have announced that it wasn't possible to reopen the centre in line with the central government’s roadmap on Monday 12 April.
The flood took place over the Easter weekend causing significant damage, and will require extensive repairs before it will be safe for residents to use the facilities.
We understand this will be a disappointment to those that use the facilities, but we have been given assurance that the other six leisure centres and gyms in the city have opened as expected on Monday 12 April.
These include King Alfred Leisure Centre and St Lukes Swimming Pool and customers that would normally swim at Prince Regent are able to use these facilities in the interim.
Freedom Leisure are also working towards relocating as many swimming lessons and clubs as is possible to these pools, to limit the inconvenience to their customers.
We are working hard with Freedom Leisure to look at the quickest and safest options in terms of the repair works. Whilst the exact timetable for the works is still to be determined, we will make every effort to enable re-opening for Step 3 of the central government’s re-opening on 17 May.
More information will be shared on Freedom Leisure’s webpages and social media channels following further investigations into the extent of the damage.
