£3,000 incentive to employ an apprentice ends on 30 September
A government scheme designed to encourage more employers to hire an apprentice, is coming to an end.
Employers in Brighton & Hove have until 30 September 2021 to apply for a £3,000 cash incentive for each new apprentice, of any age, hired as a new employee between 1 April and 30 September 2021.
Plan for Jobs
From June 2021, employers of all sizes in England were offered extra funding to help them take on new apprentices. The incentive is to help more employers invest in the skilled workforce they need for the future.
The scheme is part of the government’s Plan for Jobs, designed to support the country’s economic recovery by offering valuable training and employment opportunities for people of all ages.
Apprenticeships
Apprenticeships are available in all levels from GSCE equivalent to degree. There are more than 800 types of apprenticeship job roles nationally in 170 different industries.
They include everything from law to graphic design, advertising to electric vehicle engineering, health and social care, to teaching and management.
Councillor Hannah Clare, chair of the Children, Young People & Skills committee says: “Employers considering hiring an apprentice should take action now.
“Anyone over 16 can start an apprenticeship. They’re open to people starting or changing their career or who wish to up-skill in a current job.
“Hiring an apprentice has many benefits for employers. Training can be adapted to suit the needs of their business and they can expand and up-skill their workforce while also offering people from the local community valuable learning experiences”.
