Mapping out a brighter future for city’s SEND children
A new five-year plan for improving services for children and young people with special educational needs and disabilities in Brighton & Hove – and their families – has been agreed.
The SEND Strategy 2021-26 also covers services for adults with learning disabilities.
Here is an easy to understand video that explains it all:
It sets out six key priorities for ensuring better outcomes and better lives. These include:
• making services more inclusive
• early identification of SEND issues
• making the transition of SEND young people into adulthood as smooth as possible.
Councillor Elaine Hills, Deputy Chair of the Children, Young People and Skills Committee, said: "I'm delighted that we have published our SEND Strategy.
“Our aim is to enhance the outcomes and life chances of children and young people with SEND and adults with learning disabilities across the city.
“It is an ambitious, meaningful, accessible, and engaging strategy.
“It has been co-produced by the council, the city’s children and young people, Parent and Carer Council, NHS Clinical Commissioning Group and a wide range of stakeholders."
