February is LGBTQ+ History Month.
LGBTQ+ History Month is a celebration to provide education and insight into the issues that the LGBTQ+ community face by highlighting specific histories, important events and milestones, alongside the people that have made change possible.
The council’s LGBTQ Workers Forum have teamed up with local life coach Sam Adams, who has written and presented a series of short online films focussing on intersectionality and platforming other voices.
Selective documenting of history and culture has been a pervasive issue for centuries, and the stories of LGBTQ+ people of colour are notably underrepresented; not least within the LGBTQ+ community itself.
The seventh and final film in the series film looks at ‘Self-awareness’.
We've shared them all here over the last few weeks, or you can see them by following the LGBTQ Workers Forum on twiter @LGBTQiWF.
Our library service is also offering a number of online events, workshops and resources to celebrate LGBTQ+ history month.
