Free online learning classroom for families, parents and carers
We are offering parents and carers a wide range of free online courses and workshops from 2 March to support learning at home.
Offered through Microsoft Teams or Zooms, the courses will be run by the council’s family learning team and delivered live, to small groups of learners, by our team of experienced tutors.
The chair of the council's children, young people and skills committee, Councillor Hannah Clare said: “We’re offering families the opportunity to learn together or parents/carers to gain extra skills that will benefit the whole family. These are short courses, fun, relaxed, run for small groups with no exams, and absolutely free.”
Courses and workshops coming up include:
- Family first aid
- Maths
- Phonics
- Supporting a children or teenager with anxiety
- Building children’s resilience
- Mindful eating
Councillor Clare added: “We know that a child’s first and most important teacher is their parent or carer. Research has also shown that children whose parents support their learning and get involved do better both at school and later in life.”
Courses are free to all parents and carers living in Brighton & Hove.
