From Monday 18 January, we will again be extending the hours elderly people can use their concessionary bus passes to support travel to and from Covid-19 vaccination appointments.
Holders of an Older Person's Bus Pass will be able to use their pass all day, meaning they won’t have to pay to travel to early morning vaccination appointments and can choose to shop at quieter times of the day.
Holders of a Disabled Person's Bus Pass are already able to use them 24 hours a day.
This extension will continue until the end of February half term (February 20) when schools are due to reopen.
Chair of the Environment, Transport and Sustainability Committee, Amy Heley said: “I’m so pleased we’ve been able to make this offer at such a critical time and I would like to thank the local bus operators for their support and flexibility.
“It’s vital we help older and more vulnerable people to get their Covid-19 vaccinations as quickly as possible.
“Extending the amount of time pass holders can travel will make it easier for them to get to their appointments, without having to worry about cost.”
