We’re sending out more than 130,000 new council tax bills over the next week to households throughout the city.
The issuing of the annual bills will begin tomorrow (Wednesday), with the first batch of 6,300 being sent by email to people who signed up to view their bills online.
A further 23,000 e-bills will be issued over Thursday, Friday and next Monday, with the rest of the bills – around 101,000 – being sent by post on these days.
With many residents’ circumstances changing due to Covid-19, we’re expecting a far higher number of inquiries than usual this year.
Extended phone line hours
To ensure we’re giving the best possible service, we’re extending our phone line opening times during Monday 15 to Friday 26 March from 9am-1pm and 2.30pm-4.30pm, and have more staff answering calls. The number is 01273 291 291.
However, with the majority of council tax officers having to work from home, we’re also asking people to be patient if calling.
If you’re inquiry isn’t urgent, you can save time by visiting the council tax webpages where you can find a range of useful information including Frequently Asked Questions.
