Business support and advice for local entrepreneurs
A range of free business advice and information sessions are available through BIPC Sussex, which has its regional base at Jubilee Library.
The centre supports entrepreneurs, start-ups and small businesses across Sussex, from the first spark of inspiration to successfully launching and developing a business.
It’s a hub for entrepreneurs to network and attend events, it provides one-to-one expert advice and access to a wealth of free information – including business databases, market research reports, company data, and information on patents, trademarks, designs and copyright.
It also runs a programme of business webinars and workshops to help you start or grow your business, covering a variety of topics, including marketing, finance, franchising and licensing, web development and design, Intellectual Property, diversity and inclusion, and workplace wellbeing.
BIPC Sussex is part of the British Library’s National Network of BIPCs and works with members of the local business community.
BIPC Sussex welcomes its new ambassador
Claire Mason, founder and CEO of Brighton & Hove based global thought leadership consultancy Man Bites Dog, has taken on an additional role as ambassador and entrepreneur in residence for BIPC Sussex.
Claire said: “The BIPC is an incredible resource for entrepreneurs, start-ups and small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) from across Sussex which offers information services, business support and opportunities to learn from other entrepreneurs.
“I am excited and honoured to be supporting the BIPC in its mission to give start-ups the strongest start and help our many local SMEs to innovate and grow.
“What’s really special about the BIPC is that by delivering support through the library network, we are able to make entrepreneurship more accessible by reaching people who are under-represented in business, helping close the entrepreneurship gap for women and aspiring entrepreneurs from under-represented ethnic backgrounds or with a disability.”
Check out what’s on offer
Councillor Steph Powell, co-chair of the Tourism, Equalities, Communities & Culture committee, said:
“Public libraries play a crucial role in making the path to starting a thriving business accessible to everyone, and the BIPC’s support and advice is particularly vital as local entrepreneurs and small businesses cope with the pandemic.
“With the new year approaching, it’s a great time to check out what’s on offer at the centre, to see if your business or your idea could benefit, whether you are just starting out or looking to grow your business.”
