Families who foster for Brighton & Hove City Council and the children they care for have been benefiting from some extra TLC over the last couple of months.
They have been getting together at the Moulsecoomb Forest Garden to spend time in the outdoors and take part in arts activities.
The children and their foster families have been working together to respond to creative instructions, building sculptures and using clay, experimenting with photography and sound to create their own work.
They have also been able to enjoy time in the forest garden, on the rope swing and roasting marshmallows.
One of our foster carers said: “We all had such a fun time. It was wonderful doing things we just wouldn’t think of doing. Everyone involved was so enthusiastic with us. Thank you again from some happy carers and some tired children.”
The chair of the council’s Children, Young People and Skills committee, Councillor Hannah Clare, said: “Our foster carers do a really fantastic job looking after children who have had a difficult start in life.
“We pride ourselves on the first class support we give our foster carers, and I’m delighted that these workshops and the Moulsecoomb Forest Garden have proved so popular.”

The arts sessions are run by artists Lucy Cran and Bill Leslie who work together as Leap Then Look. They have run participatory projects with galleries, school and community groups across the country, including the Tate and the Royal Academy.
They were paid for by the council’s Communities Fund.
