A new form will need to be submitted with applications for planning permission from 2 March 2020 as part of the validation process for the incoming Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) – a new levy on development to pay for infrastructure.
The CIL Additional Information Form 1 will be required as part of the validation process from 2 March for all applications for full planning permission, including householder applications and reserved matters following an outline planning permission, and applications for lawful development certificates.
The council anticipates introducing CIL on liable planning permissions on and from 1 June 2020. If you require further information about CIL, please email: cil@brighton-hove.gov.uk
Councillor Tracey Hill, chair of the city’s planning committee, said: “This marks an important step forward towards the introduction of CIL, which will ensure that more landowners and developers make appropriate contributions towards broader city-wide infrastructure projects.”
Background
The decision to introduce CIL was made in 2016. Since then, there have been two rounds of consultation and a public examination.
The decision to request the new form as part of the validation process was taken by the Tourism, Equalities, Communities & Culture Committee (Agenda item 42) on 16 January 2020.
