Lose weight – and help protect yourself against Covid

With Covid-19 now shown to be even more dangerous for overweight and obese people, there’s never been a better time to lose weight.

And better still, there’s free local support to help you to manage your weight, eat well and stay active in Brighton & Hove.

Brighton & Hove City Council’s healthy lifestyles team provides a range of activities for people looking to lose weight and make changes to their lifestyle. These include free courses run by healthy lifestyle and weight loss experts BeeZee Bodies

Changing behaviour

BeeZee Bodies courses aren’t about running marathons or eating celery all day. They are about changing people’s behaviour and helping them to lose weight and make healthier lifestyles for the long term. Their courses are run by qualified nutritionists.

In response to Covid-19 restrictions, BeeZee Bodies are running a wide range of online healthy lifestyle programmes to suit everybody. Whether you want to make healthy changes as a family, meet like-minded people, or attend with a partner, pal – or even dog! – there’s a programme to suit everyone.

Alongside the classes delivered by BeeZee Bodies, the council’s healthy lifestyles team also offers a range of free activities helping you keep physically active. These include free, online classes every week that you can join in with from you own home.

Tailored support that's right for you

If you want to lose weight and are unsure where to start, a free confidential chat with the healthy lifestyles team can help you to find the support that’s right for you.

The chair of Brighton & Hove’s health and wellbeing board, Councillor Sue Shanks, said: “BeeZee Bodies can help you learn about nutrition and healthier lifestyles, lose weight – and have fun at the same time.

“There are group programmes, or you can get 1-1 support tailored to your needs if you prefer.

“We want to help people get the support they need to get healthier and lose weight in a realistic and sustainable way.”
