From Brighton with Love – EU transition support for small businesses
Doing business in a post Brexit-world
From Brighton with Love includes a series of expert panel events, Your Questions Answered sessions, and Export Leaders peer network sessions. The six month programme focuses on topics including exporting and importing, supply chains, employment issues post-Brexit and more. It is practical support, delivered by people who are already doing it well and is open to anyone doing business in Brighton & Hove.
Cllr Marianna Ebel, chair of BHCC’s Brexit working group says: “Preparing for the changes of a post-Brexit world is key if we are to capitalise on our city’s strengths, remain resilient and build positive connections with our EU neighbours.
“Brighton & Hove is renowned for its innovative and agile businesses and this series of events is tailored to help navigate the challenges and opportunities that a new UK/EU relationship will bring”.
Sarah Springford, chief executive at Brighton Chamber, adds: “We hope as many businesses as possible take advantage of the programme. There’s nothing more motivating than sharing good and bad experiences and learning from peers. It’s been a tough year so this will provide some positive and practical ways in which we can globally launch the wide range of business potential in the city.”
The first panel event:
Taking Brighton business global - 15 December, 10.00 - 11.30
Exporting products and services can be a pivotal point in a business’s growth. An expert panel will share why, how to do it, and who can help you. There will be plenty of take-aways, practical examples of successes and failures, and inspiration and motivation to think global.
The first ‘Your Questions Answered’ session:
Your Questions Answered (virtual): The UK Immigration Points-Based System after Brexit - 17 December, 1.00 – 2.00
Led by Dr Peter Walsh, Researcher at the Migration Observatory, University of Oxford.
From 1 January the new Immigration system will come into effect. Employers that employ non-UK nationals or plan to, will have new considerations to action.
These sessions offer 60 minutes with an expert on a specialist topic. Attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and will come away in the knowledge that they have all the essential facts about the key issues that relate to their business.
Join the Expert Leaders sessions
An opportunity to join a group of people leading the drive for exports within their organisations and learn from and support each other. Sessions will help draw on the groups’ diverse export and business expertise and experience.
The launch session is on 19 January, 10.0 – 12.00. Groups will run fortnightly in Jan - March and monthly from April - June.
