Thousands of businesses are entitled to a business grant payment for the current lockdown period. Make sure you don’t miss out and apply now.
Applications for business grant payments are open and available on our website.
If you have a business in the city that has been affected by the lockdown of 5 November to 1 December, you could receive a Covid business support payment.
You can apply if your business has had to close or is open but has been affected by the restrictions.
We also will be announcing a more limited scheme following the lockdown period from 2 December.
There are grants available, whether you pay business rates or not.
Please read the guide for applicants carefully so you give us the right information and we can work out the right grant for you.
Once you have read this you will be directed to the form. It’s best to be prepared because you will need to have documents available to complete the online form.
* Please note, when you complete your application, you will be given a reference number. This confirms that we have received your application and that it will be reviewed. Please keep a note of the reference number.
If your business is re-opening, it will NOT affect your entitlement to apply for a business grant for the 28-day lockdown period or affect applications that you have already made.
Invites to apply
We have written to nearly 6,000 businesses on our records inviting them to apply. If you have received one of these invitations, please follow the instructions and apply for a grant.
Charities, social enterprises and community centres may also be entitled to a grant.
Please don’t be confused by the ‘open’ and ‘closed’ titles of the government descriptions for the different grants.
The grant schemes are open to businesses that are both closed and open, depending on their circumstances. The important thing is to apply and we will sort out the rest.
Business grant schemes after 1 December
Following the end of lockdown, Brighton & Hove will move into Tier 2 restrictions.
After 1 December, some businesses may be eligible for grant funding from this source. Fewer businesses will be entitled to this more limited scheme.
We will be updating details on our website in the next few days.
More details about this scheme can be found on the gov.uk website.
More information on business grant payments is on the business and employers page of our website.
