Valley Gardens work update - April 2019

The next stage of works on the Valley Gardens project is starting this month (April) and will focus on the area at the St Peter’s Place junction, which is between The Level and St Peter’s Church.

Temporary taxi rank location

The taxi rank will be temporarily relocated to a new pick up and drop off point opposite the existing location. This will be in place until the new taxi rank is built in York Place during October.

Ditchling Road bike share station

The BTN Bike Share bikes situated on the southeast corner of The Level have already been relocated to the West side of Ditchling Road.

Traffic management

There will be significant changes to traffic management during this time, including:

  • no right turn access to drivers from Ditchling Road into St Peter’s Place
  • changes to signalling
  • temporary crossings for pedestrians and cyclists

Plan your journey ahead

Anyone driving through the area during this time is urged to plan ahead, use diversion routes where possible and allow extra time for their journey.

Traffic management signs and cones will be in place in the area. Signed diversion routes have been installed for cars, cyclists and pedestrian traffic, some of which will need to remain in place for the duration of the scheme.

Signs are in place around the main entrance points to the city alerting drivers to the works and possible delay.
