Spring at Woodvale
Spring is a wonderful time of year to visit the gardens at Woodvale Crematorium.
From the vibrant bulbs and fragrant blossom, to the busy nesting birds, and emerging butterflies, the Victorian burial grounds provide an oasis of calm away from the busy city centre.
Set in 42 acres, the landscaped gardens include lawns and flower beds, a waterfall and stream, rockeries and a wooded valley and are home to a rich variety of wildlife.
Visitors can follow a circular waymarked trail which highlights many of the notable monuments, including the historic Grade 2 listed flint chapels, while enjoying the spectacular changes throughout the four seasons. There’s even a picnic garden for al fresco eating!
Last year Woodvale was awarded its first Gold status at the South and South East in Bloom competition, delighting gardeners Edward and Stuart. Staff are hoping for similar success this year.
The gardens are currently open daily on Monday to Saturday from 9am to 4pm and on Sundays and public holidays from 11am to 4pm.
