School admissions joy for parents
More than 91% of parents in Brighton & Hove whose children start school this September have been offered a place at their first preference primary or infant school.
And nearly all parents (99.4%) have been offered one of the three schools they expressed a preference for – the highest percentage ever in the city. The year on year figures are:
|First preferences||2,333 pupils (89.4%)||2,339 pupils (91.3%)|
|Second preferences||197 pupils (7.55%)||174 pupils (6.8%)|
|Third preferences||39 pupils (1.49%)||33 pupils (1.3%)|
|No preference offered||40 pupils (1.5%)||15 pupils (0.6%)|
Out of 2,561 applications, only 15 were not offered one of their preferences.
These parents were offered places at the nearest school to their home address that had places available.
