School admissions joy for parents
More than 91% of parents in Brighton & Hove whose children start school this September have been offered a place at their first preference primary or infant school.
And nearly all parents (99.4%) have been offered one of the three schools they expressed a preference for – the highest percentage ever in the city. The year on year figures are:
2018 | 2019 | |
---|---|---|
First preferences | 2,333 pupils (89.4%) | 2,339 pupils (91.3%) |
Second preferences | 197 pupils (7.55%) | 174 pupils (6.8%) |
Third preferences | 39 pupils (1.49%) | 33 pupils (1.3%) |
No preference offered | 40 pupils (1.5%) | 15 pupils (0.6%) |

Out of 2,561 applications, only 15 were not offered one of their preferences.
These parents were offered places at the nearest school to their home address that had places available.
