How does your stop smoking story start?

More than 10,000 people have quit smoking in the last four years in Brighton & Hove, and over half of these quitters have stopped by using local support services.

We’re sharing some of their stories this week to celebrate their achievement and to help inspire others to access stop smoking support to help them quit. 

To mark national No Smoking Day on Wednesday 13 March there will be a display in the windows of Jubilee Library from Monday 11 to Sunday 17 March. It includes portraits and quit stories from individuals who have previously accessed stop smoking services in Brighton & Hove.

How will you give up?

You are four times more likely to quit if you use support services and there are many services available to support your own quit journey.

Our own Healthy Lifestyles team offer a stop smoking service to help you stop smoking and start living with the free support that’s right for you.

Health trainers offer one to one or group advice, support and encouragement to help you:

  • explore the benefits of stopping smoking
  • prepare to quit
  • build motivation and confidence
  • access stop smoking medications or vouchers
  • manage cravings


The team can also offer advice over the phone or email.

Other local support services that we work with include: pharmacies & GPs, Albion in the Community and on-site at Brighton & Sussex University hospital.

  • Wednesday 13 March, 11am – 1pm
  • Friday 15 March, 10am – 3pm
