House of Commons date for apprentices
Three Brighton & Hove City Council apprentices have been invited to a reception at the House of Commons on Monday 1 April to give their views on proposed new national vocational qualifications.
The invitations for Mairna Marzoug, Anoushka Clayton-Walshe and Georgia Jowett stem from their involvement in the South East Youth Apprenticeship Ambassador Network.
Technical Levels (known as T-levels) are a new option for post-16 education. They are due to start in 2020 in the areas of construction, education and childcare, and digital skills.
The House of Commons event will look at how T-levels will help young people gain the transferable skills and experience businesses need.
It is supported by the Federation of Small Businesses (FSB), and young people and business have been invited to share their views on the new T-level offer.
Anoushka said: “I very much welcome the proposed T-levels as a way of bridging the gap between academic and vocational aspiration. It’s really exciting to be a part of this.”
