Free event for people with learning disabilities and autism
Come along to the biggest free event in the city for people with learning disabilities or autism on Thursday 18 July from 10am to 3pm at BHASVIC.
'What’s Out There' will showcase the information, support, activities and opportunities available for people with learning disabilities and autism to get involved with in Brighton & Hove.
It’s open to anyone with learning disabilities and/or autism, as well as family, carers, and anyone else interested in finding out more.
After a successful event last year, we're hosting a bigger and better event
Throughout the day, there will be a range of more than 40 information stands where you can find out about local housing, money, health and support services. This year this will include opportunities for young people to find out more about education and employment options.
You can also try out activities including:
- Arts and crafts
- Badminton
- Capoeira
- New age kurling
- Hula hooping
- Boccia
- Funkfit
'What’s Out There' is hosted by Brighton & Hove City Council, along with Brighton & Hove CCG, Amaze, Speak Out, and the Carer’s Centre.
Councillor Carmen Appich, lead councillor for adult social care said: “I look forward to attending this event. It is a brilliant opportunity for people to see for themselves what we offer in Brighton & Hove. It’s a chance to ask questions, try new activities, meet people and have fun!
“We work closely with many of the organisations attending to make sure that people with learning disabilities or autism in the city have high quality and interesting options available to spend their personal budget on.”
Last year more than 160 people with learning disabilities and autism turned up, along with 150 carers. Have a look at last year's event.
