Fantastic effort from city litterpickers
Congratulations and thanks to the 400 volunteers who rolled up their sleeves, donned their gloves and took part in this year’s Great British Spring Clean.
Volunteers from the council’s Tidy Up Team, members of Friends Groups and other organisations joined forces with the council’s park rangers to take part in a month long programme of events.
Litter picks were organised across the city and over 500 bags of rubbish were collected, with volunteers spending over 50 hours cleaning up their parks and open spaces.
Other events included making eco-bricks at The Level and Rock Painting and an Easter Egg Hunt in Preston Park.
'Tidy Up Team' training sessions saw 21 new members picking up their kits, ready to run their own community events. Learn more about joining the Tidy Up team.
The Great British Spring Clean is part of a national campaign organised by Keep Britain Tidy.
