Electoral canvassers will be visiting homes in Brighton & Hove to confirm the list of people who are registered to vote at each address.
A form asking who is registered to vote in your property was sent to every household in the city in mid July. If you have not responded to this form, you will receive a visit from an electoral canvasser before the end of October.
Please answer the door to them. They will need a few details from you and this should only take a few minutes of your time.
Why are we asking for this information?
Your information will be used to put together the electoral register. This is the only complete list of people of voting age and is the basis for UK democracy. It is used to call people for jury service, for credit referencing and proof of a person’s identity.
We are legally required to carry out a canvass every year to ensure the new electoral register that we will publish on 1 December 2019 is as accurate as possible.

Alternatively, if you have the security code found on the household enquiry form, you can still update your household’s details:
- Complete the form online and enter part 1 and part 2 of your security code
- Or complete the paper form we sent you and return it using the pre-paid envelope.
