Armed Forces Day 2019

Communities are coming together to show support for men and women of the Armed Forces, past and present.

The annual Armed Forces Day is on Saturday 29 June. More than 300 events are taking place nationally over the weekend.

Councillor Amanda Grimshaw is the council’s Armed Forces Champion. On Sunday, she is going to take part in celebrations at the Blind Veterans UK event in Ovingdean, which runs form 10.30am to 3pm.

The event brings together local service charities and organisations to showcase the work they do alongside a range of family focused entertainment and attractions.

Cllr Grimshaw said: “I believe it’s important to show respect for our Armed Forces and I’m proud to do so on behalf of the council.

"The weekend events are also an opportunity to recognise how families of those serving deserve recognition for the part they play in supporting the Armed Services community.”
