We want everyone who lives in our city to be paid fairly and have a decent standard of living. We know that Brighton & Hove is an expensive part of the UK to live in, with one of the highest house price to earnings ratios in the UK. By having a Living Wage, businesses ensure that their staff earn a wage which is enough to have a decent quality of life.

The Brighton & Hove Living Wage campaign is set independently, is annually reviewed and is based on the cost of living, not just surviving.

Having a Living Wage benefits employers too. Experience has shown that paying higher wages reduces turnover and absenteeism costs and makes workers more motivated to keep their job saving you the cost of training new staff. It also increases staff productivity and reduces staff turnover costs.

We are encouraging local businesses to voluntarily commit to paying their employees the Living Wage. To be recognised as a Living Wage Employer, businesses can sign up online today at www.livingwagebrighton.co.uk/sign-up.

It’s free to sign up and it only takes a minute. All businesses that sign up are then promoted as a registered Living Wage Employer.
