There’s now an improved evening bus service on route 37 with a bus every 40 minutes all evening (Mon-Sat) from both Meadowview and Bristol Estate. The Sunday evening service continues to operate every 75 minutes.
The change is as a result of a new contract with Compass Travel which started in April. The company will continue to operate routes 37 & 37B in Brighton & Hove for a further three years.
These routes together provide two buses an hour across the city between Meadowview and Bristol Estate with an additional short service giving three buses an hour from Meadowview for much of the day. The service will continue to operate seven days a week; on Sundays and Public Holidays the buses will all run as route 37 providing an hourly service during the day.
From September Compass Travel will be investing in four brand new buses to provide a high standard of service on this route. The buses will have their own distinctive route branding and will be fitted with WiFi, USB sockets and ‘next stop’ announcements. All will be fitted with the latest Euro 6 low emission engines which meet all clean air requirements.
Councillor Gill Mitchell, chair of the city’s environment, transport and sustainability committee, said: “We are pleased to be supporting buses that connect residents from outlying areas to the rest of the city. Making the city accessible to residents is a priority and this contract will provide a better evening service as well as regular daytime services with new, low emission buses.”
Shift workers will benefit from the new timetable with earlier first buses on a Saturday morning as the timetable is now the same Monday to Saturday.
Visit the Compass Travel website for full details of the 37 buses timetable. All Brighton Keycards and M-tickets will continue to be accepted on this route.
