Work starts on new playground
Work has started on the eagerly awaited children’s playground at Mile Oak Recreation Ground.
Builders moved on site last week to begin work on the exciting new facility, which is designed for children of all ages.
The work has been welcomed by members of the Mile Oak Recreation Action Group (MORAG) who have led a lengthy campaign for the playground to be upgraded.
Environment councillor Gill Mitchell said: “I’m really pleased that we have been able to work with residents to get this project up and running and deliver something really special for families in the area.”
Tiffany Soanes, Chair of MORAG added: "The local community members of MORAG feel really pleased that we are starting to see improvements to our previously "forgotten park" which we hope will be well used and loved for years to come. We feel that all children are entitled to access to free outdoor play facilities in their local community so the addition of this new equipment will go some way to providing that for the residents of Mile Oak".
Funding for the new facility was agreed at February’s budget council meeting.
Work is expected to take 3 to 4 weeks and will be followed by some improvements to Victoria Recreation play area.
