TAKEPART returns with a Golden Ticket for its 10th anniversary

TAKEPART is back and this year it’s celebrating its 10th anniversary!

The biggest celebration of sport and physical activity in the city starts with a launch event at The Level on Saturday 17 June.

To kick the festival off there will be local dance groups, free workshops, skateboarding tutorials, martial arts, hula hooping and more.

Simply turn up and TAKEPART - all activities are suitable for beginners and free!

To celebrate TAKEPART’s 10th anniversary we are launching the TAKEPART Golden Ticket. This voucher will let you try a free activity with any of the organisations supporting the scheme between 17 June and 30 September 2017.

With support from Brighton & Hove Buses we are offering 100 Adult 1 day networkSAVER tickets to people registering for a TAKEPART Golden Ticket, giving unlimited travel throughout their network.

Marketing Manager Carole Richmond said: "We're delighted to work with the council on this important health initiative. There are plenty of studies out there that tell us people who travel by bus are healthier than those who go by the more sedentary car option.

"We're supporting the Golden Ticket initiative with 100 one-day network savers for anyone who wants to get active but would find it difficult to pay for the cost of getting there. And if you're someone that would normally travel to a sporty activity by car, then use this golden opportunity to take the bus and improve your health even more."

Throughout the festival there will be lots of events going on and opportunities to try out new sports and activities.

There will be TAKEPART events at many locations including Knoll Park, Manor Gym and Wish Park.

There is also the opportunity to join in with International Yoga Day, Sand Sports Weekend and GO TRI at King Alfred Leisure Centre all of which are free events.

Paddle Round the Pier will also return for another year with the very best in water, street and urban sports, live music, kids’ entertainment, ‘have a go’ opportunities and much more. This great event also features the Access Beach offering complete disabled accessibility to the sea.

Councillor Alan Robins, chair of the Tourism, Development and Culture Committee, said: “TAKEPART is a brilliant event every year and now it’s the 10th anniversary it will be better than ever.

“The Golden Ticket is a great initiative and teaming up with Brighton & Hove buses will hopefully encourage even more people to try out different sports and activities and help them find one they love.

“TAKEPART highlights the importance of a healthy lifestyle and is packed full of things to do. I hope everyone takes this opportunity to see what’s on offer and have a great time.”

The festival will run between 17 June and 2 July. The programme is out and can be found here.
