An outside view on improving services

We’ve invited a team of highly experienced council staff and councillors from other parts of the country in to cast an expert eye over how we do things.

This is not a formal inspection. Its aim is simply to give us an expert steer on what we need to do next in order to further improve our services.

This ‘peer review’ team has been chosen from similar councils, so they understand the issues we are facing.

We gave the review team a lot of information about the city in advance of their visit, including political, social and economic context. As part of the review process they are hearing the views of our councillors, officers and external stakeholders.

This review follows on from our last peer review in 2014, our assessment under the Equality Framework for Local Government last year and the LGA safeguarding peer review, which was also in 2016.
