New crew for city's boatbed
A company which runs a minibus service to and from Gatwick Airport is the new sponsor of the planting displays on one of the city’s most prominent flowerbeds.
Crewflyer, has agreed to sponsor the ‘boat bed’ which sits alongside the roundabout in front of Brighton Pier. The company will fund the year round planting and upkeep of a selection of herbaceous plants. The sponsorship is part of a Highways Sponsorship Initiative run by the council in partnership with Sussex-based Highways Sponsorship Specialists SponsorARoundabout.
Councillor Gill Mitchell, chair of the council’s environment committee said: “The boat bed is in one of the most prominent locations in the city and is seen by thousands of people every day. The generous funding from Crewflyer will help us to keep it looking good all year round.”
Mark Barfoot, from SponsorARoundabout added: “CrewFlyer’s sponsorship of one of Brighton’s highest profile Highways locations is most welcomed, and is a further example of the wider benefit that is being gained by all local stakeholders from the initiative.”
Based in Crawley, CrewFlyer launched its 24-hour minibus service between Brighton and Gatwick Airport earlier this year. Already popular with people living in the city and working at the airport, there are plans to expand the service next year.
The three vehicles operate on a subscription basis giving customers a guaranteed seat.
