City’s learning disabilities event set to be biggest ever
A free event at the King Alfred Leisure Centre on Thursday 22 June from 10am to 3pm is set to be Brighton & Hove’s biggest ever for adults with a learning disability.
The ‘Best of Health’ event is not just for adults with a learning disability. It’s also for their families, paid carers, and anyone else interested in finding out more about ways for people with a learning disability to have fun and be healthy.
There will be a range of fun activities to try out, including:
- Zumba
- Therapy dogs
- Flamenco dance
- Hula Hooping
- Capoeira – a mix of Brazilian dance and martial arts moves
- Accessible yoga.
There will also be a range of information stands where people can find out about local health and health promotion services.
Best of Health is funded by Brighton & Hove City Council and jointly organised by the council’s community learning disability and public health teams.
It’s part of this year’s two-week TAKEPART festival, which has lots of opportunities for the whole city community to try out new sports and activities.
