This city can dance!
The annual end-of-year ‘Dance Active’ community dance event at the Brighton Centre has been a sell-out success.
Now in its sixth year, Dance Active featured 300 performers from 25 Brighton & Hove based groups performing everything from flamenco to hip-hop, contemporary to Charleston.
The show was organised by Brighton & Hove City Council’s Active for Life team. They worked with the Flamenco dance academy and the Grace Eyre Foundation to create a piece for a group of adults with learning disabilities.
Active For Life also teamed up with acclaimed teacher / choreographer Ceyda Tanc to help deliver shows by The Young Dancers Collective East and West, which allows young people living in these areas to access low cost contemporary dance.
The show was compered by dance legend JP Omani and opened by the Mayor, Councillor Mo Marsh.
