A Brighton school has been rated one of the best in England for school sport.
Carden Nursery and Primary School is one of only 104 schools in the country to receive the new School Games Platinum Award from national charity the Youth Sport Trust.
The new Platinum award was only open to schools like Carden that had achieved five successive gold awards for their consistently high-levels of commitment to school sport.
Headteacher Helen Longton-Howorth said: “I am so pleased and proud that our fantastic PE team and children who have worked tirelessly to achieve this award have been successful.
“It is testament to our hugely successful sports and PE programme which is so beneficial to all our students.”
The chair of Brighton & Hove City Council’s children, young people and skills committee, Councillor Dan Chapman, said: “I’m delighted Carden’s excellence has been recognised.
“This is about the fantastic efforts they have made to reach out to their whole community – a wide range of children who vary in their levels of activity.
“Our public health team works closely with schools to encourage healthy active lifestyles, because the benefits to children are life-long.”
