TAKEPART is back for the biggest celebration of active lifestyles in the country

The biggest sport and physical activity festival in the country will kick off with a free launch event followed by two weeks full of fun sporting activities.

Today (18 May) the official programme for this year’s TAKEPART has been launched revealing the wide range of amazing things to see and do during this year’s festival with all activities taking place next month (18 June – 3 July 2016).

Organised by Brighton & Hove City Council’s Sport & Physical Activity Team in partnership with over 100 local sports clubs, dance groups and activity providers, TAKEPART aims to inspire those who want to improve their health and lead a more active lifestyle.

The festival provides a wide range of events and taster sessions, for all ages and abilities, and is the perfect place to discover the different sports on offer across the city.

It will include challenges and events for workplaces and older people and a range of activities that support disabled people in the city to participate in sport and discover new opportunities to be active.

The festival launch day takes place at the Level on Saturday 18 June, bringing the popular festival into the heart of the city. Throughout the day there will be performances and demonstrations, the chance to find out about local clubs and groups and to speak to health and fitness experts.

There will be a martial arts zone, skate jams and tuition, a Sugar Smart healthy eating zone and much more and kicks off two weeks of events and activities across the city.

Councillor Alan Robin chair of Brighton & Hove City Council's Economic Development and Culture Committee, said: “It’s vital that we encourage people to keep fit and stay active for future health benefits. This is a great chance to promote all the opportunities to do so across Brighton & Hove.

“The TAKEPART Launch Event is the perfect start for a summer full of sports and activities in the city and I encourage everyone to go out and see what’s on offer.”
