National Table Tennis Day to be hosted in Brighton & Hove
Brighton & Hove has been chosen to host the National Table Tennis Day on Thursday 14 July. The event, which is taking place at the Brighton Bandstand from 11am to 5pm, will be a chance for families to come together to celebrate all that is great about table tennis and have some fun.
National Table Tennis Day events take place all over the country with 2015’s day seeing more than 200 events nationwide. With the main centrepiece taking place in Brighton, the event is hoped to be bigger and better than ever before.
There will be appearances from ping pong world champion Andrew Baggaley and reigning women's singles national champion, Kelly Sibley.
There will also be lots of fun and games, including interactive table tennis tables and qualified coaches offering the chance to sharpen up your table tennis skills.
Cllr Alan Robins, chair of the Economic Development & Culture Committee, said: “The fact National Table Tennis Day is being hosted in Brighton & Hove this year is great news! It will be a great day out for families and an opportunity for people to try a sport they may never have done before.”
Tim Holtam, Director of Brighton Table Tennis Club, said: "Come and celebrate the love, passion and enthusiasm for what is surely the greatest sport in the world! Our city is honoured to be chosen to host this national event and it will be a fantastic way to celebrate National Table Tennis Day."
