Help us to update the electoral register

Electoral canvassers are currently visiting homes in Brighton & Hove to confirm the list of people who are registered to vote.

We are legally required to ensure the electoral register is as accurate as possible.

If you have not responded to the household enquiry form asking you to confirm or amend details of everyone at your address, you will receive a visit from an electoral canvasser before mid November. Please answer the door to them. They will only need a few details from you and it should only take a few minutes of your time.

Your information will be used to put together the electoral register. This is the only complete list of people of voting age and is the basis for UK democracy. It is used to call people for jury service, for credit referencing and proof of a person’s identity. The Electoral Registration Officer can ask anyone to give information required for the purposes of compiling the register and you have a legal obligation to comply.

The new electoral register will be published on 1 December 2016.
