St Andrew’s primary expansion plan moves forward
Plans to expand St Andrew’s CoE primary school in Hove by one form of entry in September 2015 have taken a big step forward.
Brighton & Hove City Council’s children and young people committee has agreed for statutory notices explaining the plans to be published with a view to making a final decision in November. This step has been backed by the school’s governing body.
The expansion plans have been changed following concerns expressed by parents and governors through an initial consultation. In particular, new classrooms would now be provided on the northern end of the Haddington Street car park, which is adjacent to the school, rather than on the school playgrounds.
The chair of the council’s children and young people committee, Councillor Sue Shanks, said: “I’m really pleased that the school’s governors have responded so positively to our revised proposals.
“There is still a need for more primary age school places in south and central Hove. I believe the revised plans strike a good balance between the need for school places and the need for public parking.”
