'Party House' Scrutiny Panel meeting - how to take part
If you live near a so-called ‘party house’ catering for stag and hen parties the council would like to hear from you.
On 28 January Brighton & Hove City Council is convening a Scrutiny Panel into ‘party houses’ and would like to gather views from members of the public who have had experience of these properties. Councillors want to hear about people’s experiences, what they think the problems are and what solutions they would like to see.
The council is also looking for examples of good practice which can be taken up by ‘party house’ operators, so is encouraging operators to come and speak to councillors too.
The meeting is on 28 January 2014 from 3-5pm in the Council Chamber at Hove Town Hall.
For further information or to book a slot to talk to the Panel, please email scrutiny@brighton-hove.gov.uk or call (01273) 290450. Or just come along on the day.
Councillor Geoffrey Bowden, who will chair the Scrutiny Panel, said: “Properly managed ‘party houses’ can bring financial benefit to the city contributing to the visitor economy. However, some of these premises can give rise to antisocial behaviour and cause a considerable nuisance to local communities.”
The other Panel members are councillors Jayne Bennett and Alan Robins.
