Enjoy the weather, keep safe on the seafront

Although the weather is warming up the sea temperature is still cold and only suitable for experienced swimmers. Those taking a dip should take care not to get out of their depth and experienced swimmers should keep to the bathing areas and wear a wetsuit. It’s also a good idea to swim in pairs or have someone watch from shore. Brighton & Hove’s seasonal lifeguards start on 24 May when the summer season begins and sea temperatures begin to rise. From May dogs are only allowed on certain beaches – check out the online map for dog-friendly beaches to walk your dog: www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/dogfriendly

The council provides safe areas for people to barbecue and special bins so you can dispose of your barbecue safely. More information here: www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/barbecues

Help us to keep the seafront looking lovely for everyone this weekend by disposing of litter or taking it home with you. There are now recycling bins on the seafront, as well as the litter bins: More information here: www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/litter
