Cherry Tree nursery celebrates 10th birthday

A pirate-themed party was the order of the day when the Cherry Tree nursery in Hollingdean celebrated its 10th birthday.

Part of the Hollingdean children’s centre in Brentwood Road, Cherry Tree is run by Brighton & Hove City Council. It was purpose built 10 years ago to provide a happy, safe and inspiring space for children to play and learn.

Jude and Bridey (pictured) were among 90 children and parents enjoying the party.

The nursery was rated ‘outstanding’ by Ofsted in its most recent inspection.

Cherry Tree is managed jointly by Alison Clough and Cath Linstrem. Cath said: “We pride ourselves on making Cherry Tree a lovely place for children to come to and also a lovely place to work. We have a great relationship with our parents and the feedback we get from them is fantastic.”

The chair of the council’s children and young people committee, Councillor Sue Shanks, said: “Our Cherry Tree nursery does a fantastic job giving local children the chance to fulfil their potential.

“We value our children’s centres very highly and have prioritised them through years of severe budget pressures.”
