Have you ever wanted to work as a lifeguard? Spending the summer outside and helping to keep one of the best beaches in Britain safe. Brighton & Hove city council is currently recruiting lifeguards to work on the world famous Brighton and Hove bathing beaches during our summer season from 19th May – 7th September 2014.
Seafront Operations manager Viki Miller said;
“The council has a year round dedicated seafront service with lifeguard-trained officers patrolling the beaches and seafront area on quad bikes enabling them to respond quickly in the event of an emergency. But at this time of year we need to recruit lifeguards for the summer season, they play a vital role in keeping the beaches safe, liaising with the RNLI and helping the public if they need assistance.”
The summer season lifeguards start on the summer half term weekend and ends in September.
Vacancy detail
You will need excellent customer service skills and should hold or be willing obtain the SLSGB beach lifeguard qualification.
If your application is successfully shortlisted you will be invited to attend a swim test where you will need to show that you can swim 400 metres in 7mins 30sec or under. All lifeguards are also required to pass an eyesight test. If you pass this you will then be invited on to the interview stage.
If you are successful you will join a large team who are dedicated to ensuring the safety of residents and visitors who come to our beaches.
The normal working week is 37 hours, Monday to Sunday inclusive, with one day off in the week. You will also be required to attend in house training throughout the season if recruited.
