Nursery boost for Whitehawk
Brighton & Hove City Council has stepped in to save a nursery in Whitehawk that was due to close at the end of July.
Paces for Brighton based in the Valley Social Centre will re-open in September as Sun Valley nursery, following a make-over, and will offer 30 places during term time.
Fifteen hours per week of free early learning will be available during term-time for eligible two, three and four year olds. All staff are expected to transfer and no job cuts are anticipated.
The chair of the council’s children and young people committee, Councillor Sue Shanks, said: “There is continuing demand in the Whitehawk area for nursery places.
“Ofsted has said the council’s early years services are among the very best in the country, and I’m delighted that more children in an area of childcare need will be able to benefit from them.”
