Keeping up standards in the city

More than 2,000 trading standards experts are heading to the city for the annual Trading Standards Institute (TSI) Conference next week.

The delegates from across the country will attend a programme of events and an exhibition taking place in Brighton from Monday 17 June to Thursday 20 June. The conference provides an opportunity to hear updates on issues and new laws covering the trading standards sector.

John Peerless Mountford, Brighton & Hove City Council’s Principal Trading Standards Officer, is due to take up the post of chair of the national TSI from September. John explained the benefits of hosting the conference, he said: “The conference is an important focus for the year ahead. The information shared at the event helps us develop the best service possible for residents and businesses. The conference is also a great boost to the city’s economy.”

The Mayor of Brighton & Hove, Councillor Denise Cobb, will officially open the conference on Monday evening. The employment minister Jo Swinson MP is speaking to the conference on Tuesday 18 June.
