Help us help the homeless
With the colder weather now upon us Brighton & Hove City Council is making a special plea for residents to help the council offer support to people sleeping rough in the city.
The city’s rough sleeper outreach team works tirelessly to engage with rough sleepers and help make sure they get the support they need.
The chair of the council’s housing committee, Councillor Bill Randall, said: “If you are concerned about a rough sleeper, especially during the cold weather, please call the rough sleeper team now on FREEPHONE 0808 168 0414 or email brighton.rsssrt@cri.org.uk.
“You should leave the details where you have seen the person so that our team can look for them and offer assistance.
“We can help them get medical and benefits advice that could really make a big difference for them.
“There is specialist support available for difficult issues such as drug and alcohol problems that may be making their search for accommodation all the more difficult.
“In some cases we can also help rough sleepers to find the support they need elsewhere in places with which they have a local connection.”
The city’s rough sleeper team is run by the charity CRI on behalf of the council, which commissions and funds the service.
