Don't forget the elephant adventure

Children are invited to create artwork for a new playground shelter planned in tribute to the fabled elephant of Wish Park.

The Great Elephant Adventure morning from 10am on 30 August at Wish Park, is being hosted by Brighton & Hove City Council and local artists from Threshold which won the commission to design the shelter. Just turn up with elephant-related ideas, including poems, words you associate with elephants, jokes and drawings and they could be included on the shelter. There will be drawings of the design for people to view.

You can also take part online at www.brighton-hove.gov.uk/cityparks.

Wish Park is rumoured to have an elephant buried in its grounds. The local story goes that the animal was with a visiting circus but died in the park.

The shelter is part of improvements being made to the playground in Wish Park which are being funded through ‘Section 106’ contributions from the development of the Nuffield Hospital in New Church Road.
