Council to continue coordinating city's school admissions

School admissions arrangements for Brighton & Hove’s community schools, faith schools, academies and free schools will continue to be coordinated by the council next year.

The agreement means that parents will still be apply for their three preferred schools in one go, saving time and possible confusion.

All the city’s community schools operate the same admissions priorities. However, the city’s faith schools, academies and free schools all have their own separate priorities so parents are advised to study these carefully before deciding on their three preferences.

The council’s admissions system is reviewed annually in accordance with government guidelines. This process has now been completed with regard to the next admissions round allocating places for September 2014 and it has been agreed that the current system will be retained unchanged.
