Public Toilet Refurbishment Programme
How we're refurbishing our public toilets and how this may affect you.
We know that the city’s public toilets need refurbishing. Over the next few years we are investing £3 million to refurbish public toilets across the city.
We will start Phase 1 of the programme once the summer season is over. This will allow us to keep public toilets open throughout the city’s busiest time of year.
Where we will be doing the refurbishments
Phase 1 will start on Monday 28 November, with the toilets at:
- Kings Esplanade - bottom of Grand Avenue, near Hove Lawns
- Daltons - Lower Prom East of Brighton Pier, near the zip wire
- Station Road - near Portslade train station
- Saltdean undercliff
These toilets will be closed until the work is finished. We will put signs at these sites showing where the nearest alternative toilets are.
Rottingdean Parish Council is funding a refurbishment of the toilets at Park Road, Rottingdean which they plan to start in the autumn too. Work here will start on Thursday 24 November and the toilets will be closed until the work is finished.
Funding
The council has secured £330,000 from the government, that has been match funded with £95,500 from the council to increase the number of Changing Places Facilities in the city too.
